Black Clay, one of the most renowned and treasured materials in Mexican craftsmanship tradition, is solely produced in the small town of San Bartolo Coyotepec in the southern state of Oaxaca. The characteristic bright black color that distinguishes this material is obtained through traditional techniques used during its wholly handmade fabrication process; those techniques include clay formulation, baking in a ground-level kiln fired with lumber and meticulous smoothing of every small piece. Until now, Black Clay has been normally used to fabricate pottery pieces; however, talented artisans are nowadays exploring alternative applications that enable us to introduce this traditional but contemporary jewelry collection. Moreover, every design is combined with Mexican Sterling silver that emphasizes the beauty and uniqueness of every article.
