Obsidian is the result of volcanic lava coming in contact with water and cooling quickly.It is a natural gemstone and is considered a semiprecious gem because of its shiny lustre and is used as ornamental stone for carvings.

The color is dark green to dark brown and black and also can show sheens of gold or silver or yellow coloration.The beautiful sheen colors,visible at certain angles,become much more pronounced when viewed with a bright light source.
